What is our understanding of the word "Politics" what do we mean by the word Politics how does it affect you as a person when politicians make decisions on your behalf. There is a lot of discussion in the media about Sovereignty, nation state, national interest, Brexit, European Union, Globalisation, Parliamentary Sovereignty, Socialism, Conservatism and Liberalism. But what does it all mean to you the citizen of the United Kingdom how does these words affect you? What does politics mean to you? Would you like to learn more about how our politcal systems could affect you? Are you influenced by todays politics. If you do then this course is right for you, come and learn about politics it will be an enjoyable experience.

Course aim

The course is about politics the ideology behind politics, globalisation, Sovereignty, Political sytems, political leaders, Political Islam, European Union. What is politics?

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • I will learn about how our political systems work in the UK
  • I will learn about Globalisation its origins and how it affects the UK
  • I will learn about Sovereignty where sovereignty came from why it was created
  • I will learn about Middeleast Politics it historical origins and how Great Britain played its part in the creatio of the modern Middle East
  • I will learn about Winston Churchill and Britains war time years

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • The learning will be a mixture of discussion, quizzes, and interactive role play. Each session will follow a theme a brief teach and learning either role play or discussion

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • All materials will be provided
