This supportive post 'Christmas Creative Crafts' course will enable students to try different 'cost effective' crafts to create a variety of decorative items for gifts and pleasure. The course is aimed to improve your wellbeing and confidence through participating in fun and relaxing craft activities. This course will include such crafts as: card/paper crafts, painting on a variety of materials and sewing/textile crafting. This friendly and relaxed course caters for everyone who has an interest in crafting, working with their hands, learning new skills and techniques as well as the sharing of ideas and good practice.

Course aim

This supportive Spring course will enable students to try different cost effective crafts for Easter and specific events. The course is aimed to improve your wellbeing & confidence through participating in fun & relaxing craft activities.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • To develop or build on two painting techniques
  • To work with a variety of recycled resources
  • To share ideas and good practice within the group
  • To be creative and produce a range of cost effective projects
  • To be aware of how relaxing crafting can be for individuals through discussion

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
