The course will deliver and use seasonal projects including Winter\ Spring, Valentines Day, Mothers\ Carers Day, Easter - to include a wide range of craft tasks\ideas and skills for all abilities. Learners will be encouraged to share, discuss and plan their projects so everyone has their own input - for confidence and self-esteem building. All crafts will be planned, delivered and meet each individual needs - including working on their own and in groups. This then encouraging sharing, listening and confidence skills. Feedback will be given throughout each session with peers - again developing confidence and achievement. All work is taken home to enhance self-esteem.

Course aim

The course will engage and encourage learners to grow in confidence whilst completing crafts independently and in small groups. It also encourages learners to make their own choices and share ideas as well as supporting individual needs.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • SEN learners only

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to develop a range of different craft skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to share own views\opinions in planning
  • Awareness of different topics and their values
  • Demonstrate confidence in completing work and working with others

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

  • All materials will be provided
