Start the New Year with Yoga. Yoga practice improves both your strength and flexibility. Classes always include breathing exercises helping you to ease stress and calm the mind, lots of warm ups to ease stiffness in the joints and muscles and boost circulation, a range of postures building both strength and flexibility. Every class ends with a Deep Relaxation which replenishes your energy levels. This course will focus on a range of dynamic sequences, restful poses including inversions, we will also focus on improving our natural seated pose and the practice of Classic seated twists. Through movement we will find 'Stillness'.

Course aim

This course will focus on 'Moving into Stillness'. We will practice dynamic asana sequences boosting circulation and improving flexibility, leading us to restful poses where we can learn to still the mind through breath awareness.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Practice a range of dynamic sequences, moving from one asana to another linking breath and movement.
  • Improve your ability to find stillness of the mind in restful poses, eg - Shavasana, Pose of the child, Simple Inversions.
  • Improve your ability to sit, understanding the principles of alignment.
  • Practice at least 2 Classic Seated Twists.
  • Practice The Shoulderstand safely or a modification of this.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • through observation, I will see your progress and give support/advice throughout each class.

What else do I need to know?

  • You must bring a Non Slip Yoga Mat. I would advise you to bring a yoga block and also bring a blanket for the Relaxation Practice. If you are unsure we can discuss what you need at the first lesson.

  • Progress to another WEA course
