Course aim
This day session will explore the way in which railway posters, particularly in the 1920s & 30s, attracted passengers with their colourful commercial art & evocative images of destinations.

- No skills or experience needed
- This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Contribute to constructive discussion & analysis of the subject
- Consider a range of examples of images of the posters
- Understand the background to the production of the posters & wider social context
- Realise the significance of the posters within the context of advertising & more widely within Art
- Make comparisons & contrasts between the approaches of different commercial artists commissioned by the Railway companies
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
