Flower Arranging

An informal flower arranging course for all levels of experience taught by a local florist. Each week you produce a seasonal arrangement/bouquet with your own flowers and sundries, incorporating the techniques demonstrated by the tutor.

Course aim

To achieve a knowledge and understanding of flowers and flower arranging by creating a selection of seasonal. tutor demonstrated designs using your own materials.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Create a collection of designs similar to the ones created by the tutor, using techniques demonstrated.
  • Identify a selection of seasonal flowers and foliages
  • Create interpretive arrangements and bouquets
  • Understand how to look after flowers to keep them at their best
  • Understand how to use floral foam

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion

What else do I need to know?

  • You will need to bring scissors, flowers, foliages, sundries and any other tools needed for each design, book to take notes and a box to keep everything together is handy. However there will always be scissors etc to borrow from the tutor.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
