Explore vintage entertainment forms and make exciting theatre by drawing on personal story and combining craft making, digital arts, dance, drama and film. Come and be experimental, be challenged, learn new skills and reach beyond what you thought was possible to realise your potential. This course offers the opportunity for learners up to age 25 to work towards Arts Awards.

Course aim

Come and find out what an Imaginarium is! Drawing on vintage entertainment forms such as peepshows, funfairs and illusion tricks we will begin to create work for an exciting new show.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Find and develop your own story/idea drawing on personal experience
  • Specialise in a particular artistic area eg film, illusion tricks, peepshow, storytelling.
  • Develop skills in project management
  • Create a journal of your work, tracking your progress

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

  • Nothing else is needed
  • All materials will be provided
