Soft and gentle movement combined with a set breathing pattern that helps you experience a feeling of relaxation and inner peace. It is good for balance, co-ordination, flexibility and a great way of relieving stress. You will be amazed how good you will feel and it is fun!

Course aim

To progress learner's Tai Chi in a supportive and nurturing manner in order to encourage and stimulate stamina, better control of body, aid general health and well-being, inner peace and manage stress in a natural and non-intrusive way.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • perform all warming up exercises taught
  • Carry out, aided by tutor when required Tai Chi forms and patterns as per schedule
  • Achieve a sense of calmness and ability to relax from Tai Chi itself and Relaxation
  • Follow the safety guidelines as taught by tutor

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress
  • Feedback will be given throughout session both on an individual and group basis and there will be dedicated time allotted at the end of each class to discuss progress and reflect on own achievements.
