Course aim

An exciting new interactive course to encourage engagement with the historical background that underpins our visual culture. It is aimed to create a sense of confidence which will encourage deeper participation in the appreciation of art.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • begin to understand the relationship between art, imagery and society
  • feel more confident in relation to the formal aspects of art production
  • be able to take some of the content away with me in order to appreciate art more and/or influence my own creativity

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • illustrated lectures with discussion throughout, including material brought in by students

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
