Digital Photography Advanced Year 3 Continued

Ref: C3671115

This course is for the more advanced photographers or for the people that have attended the previous courses. We will explore more difficult photographic concepts such as Gradient Mapping, British Landscape artists, British Portrait photographers, Macro Photography and Stacking and stitching pictures. The students are tasked every week to submit in print a picture of a given topic. These pictures will be discussed with the whole class.

Course aim

A continuation course building on the photographic knowledge gained from previous courses.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers
  • This is a continuation course, but new students are accepted if they have a good understanding of the camera and its functions.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Use the camera in manual mode
  • show gradient mapping that is applied in a picture
  • Show an image where you used stacking different focus points
  • Show in an image the macro techniques applied.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
  • You will be expected to carry out a range of activities in your own time

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • There will be a number of tasks appropriate to your course such as written work, creating art or craft, video, photography or small projects. Some of these may be marked to help you progress
  • The students are tasked every week to submit in print a picture of a given topic

What else do I need to know?

  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)
  • A digital camera such as a DSLR or bridge camera is essential. Compact cameras are at this point of the course not good enough.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • You have to have followed the previous courses, or have a good knowledge of photography.
