Dance for Fun and Fitness - Improving Stamina

The course uses exercise to music to help improve and maintain general health and well-being both physically and mentally - improving fitness,memory and confidence. This term we will be focusing on stamina. Guidance will also be given about using the routines when outside of the learning environment. No partner required.

Course aim

To use movement to music including ballroom and latin american rhythms as a form of exercise to improve and maintain general health and well-being both physically and mentally.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Perform to music simple routines which directly benefit ones health and well-being including confidence and memory
  • Demonstrate an improvement to ones physical stamina through performing routines learnt numerous times
  • Recognise an improvement to ones mental stamina through performing set routines correctly to a full track of music
  • Recognise and record two benefits to health and well-being which have improved during the course

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

What else do I need to know?

  • loose layered,comfortable clothing and good supportive footwear
