Improve your Italian in a friendly atmosphere with a native Italian tutor. This course is for those (above the improvers level) who want to develop further the skills of speaking, understanding, reading and writing.

Course aim

To develop further speaking and listening skills in order to handle more complex conversations. To achieve a good confidence with the Italian grammar and develop writing and reading skills.

Who is the course for?

- This course is for students above the improvers level.

What topics will this course cover

- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning - You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning - You will be asked to prepare some homework between sessions in order to practise the language.

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

1) Plan an evening out with friends: arrange a meeting, suggest something to do, accept or refuse invitations 2) Use the conditional tense to give advice or make suggestions 3) Read, understand and discuss short texts 4) Describe people: their life, physical appearance and personality

How will I know I'm making progress?

- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion - You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know, do or bring?

- A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you - It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.) - Details about the course book will be given on the first class of the course.

- No pre reading or pre course work is required

What could the course lead to?

- Progress to another WEA course - You may wish to progress onto a third term course of Italian Intermediate

You can enrol online if you meet all of the following requirements:

  • are paying the standard fee or are on any of the qualifying benefits
