Enjoy studying a beautiful language with a native Italian tutor in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. With this course you will improve your knowledge of Italian and your confidence in using the language in a wide range of contexts. You will develop your conversational skills as well as your competence in reading and understanding simple texts.

Course aim

To develop speaking and listening skills in order to handle more complex conversations while visiting Italy or Italian friends. To gain more confidence with Italian grammar and improve the skills of reading and writing.

What topics will this course cover

- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning - You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning - You will be asked to prepare some homework between sessions in order to practise the language.

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

- Talk about what they like doing in their free time - Ask for products at the market - Describe how to prepare a dish and give instructions using the imperative tense - Ask for items in a shop - Ask and answer simple questions using the past tense

How will I know I'm making progress?

- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion - You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know, do or bring?
