Improve your Italian in a friendly atmosphere with a native Italian tutor. This course is for those (above the improvers level) who want to develop further the skills of speaking, understanding, reading and writing.

Course aim

To develop further speaking and listening skills in order to handle more complex conversations. To achieve a good confidence with the Italian grammar and develop writing and reading skills.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for students above the improvers level.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Talk about myself with a good degree of fluency and accuracy.
  • Talk about a recent holiday using structures in the past tense.
  • Demonstrate the use of the future tense and describe future plans.
  • Plan a journey to Italy and describe the places I would like to visit using the language to express likes, dislikes and preferences and to find an agreement with other people.
  • Extract key information from listening materials appropriate to an intermediate level.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
  • You will be asked to prepare some homework between sessions in order to practise the language.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you
  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)
