Join a friendly class with a professional and supportive tutor. To learn and practice ballroom, Latin American and sequence dancing as a way of exercising. Helping to improve and maintain general health and well-being. This term we will be focusing on stamina. No partner required.

Course aim

To use dance as a form of exercise, to help improve and maintain health and well-being, to keep ones mind active helping to improve memory and confidence.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Perform to music all ballroom/latin routines learnt with style,stance and technique to gain maximum health benefit.
  • Recognise an improvement to ones physical stamina through performing numerous routines learnt during the course.
  • Recognise an improvement to ones mental stamina by repeating a set routine to a full track of music.
  • Recognise and record on ILP two benefits to health and well-being that has improved over the duration of the course.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

What else do I need to know?

  • Loose-layered,comfortable clothing and good supportive footwear.

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

  • are paying the standard fee or are on any of the qualifying benefits
