I will work with students to improve confidence in their ability to develop artistic skills and creativity. Learning the skills and techniques of many crafts by watching and following step by step demonstrations, with one to one help and guidance you will make unique dimensional projects, learning how to use a multitude of skills and resources, to include making a template, stamping and embossing, decoupage, parchment craft, painting and colouring techniques, glass painting, mixed media, sewing, and mosaics. We will explore and try crafts of your choice to meet your individual needs and expectations during the course. This is a fun course for everyone from the complete beginner to those wanting to improve their craft skills. No prior knowledge is needed just a desire to learn and develop your skills and creativity, gain confidence meet new friends have fun and make something wonderful.

Course aim

To provide a safe welcoming and supportive environment in which students can learn and develop their craft skills building up confidence to develop their own artistic skills and creativity.

Who is the course for?

- No skills or experience needed - This course is suitable for beginners and improvers - This course is for women only as it is held in a women's centre

What topics will this course cover

- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

How will I know I'm making progress?

- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion - You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor - You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning - You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions - Feedback will be given at each stage of the project and during one to one with the tutor.

What else do I need to know, do or bring?

- Nothing else is needed - All materials will be provided

Reading and information sources

- No pre reading or pre course work is required

What could the course lead to?

- Progress to another WEA course - Students will use their skills and knowledge to develop crafts as a hobby.
