This French course will be taught by a native speaker. The course will cover all kind of subjects regarding every day life, culture, education, traditions, social & political events in France while revising grammatical points.

Course aim

This course will be taught by a native speaker. The students will be taught about french life, culture, history, traditions, social & political events & will be able to express their opinions about news when they happen. They will be given homework.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers
  • The students wish to attend this French course need an intermediate or advanced level in French.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Translate at least 3 articles from English to French.
  • Read 3 articles in french & give your opinions about the articles
  • Discuss at least 3 topics with other students.
  • Take part in role plays/ group discussion
  • Ask & give information on up to 5 different subjects

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • The students will prepare a short oral presentation each week on a subject of their choice. Students to discuss articles handed out on French news. Homework will be given on a weekly basis.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • The students will be assessed on a weekly basis through homework, oral presentation & discussions 7 role plays.

What else do I need to know?

  • Students to be given homework each week. Students to prepare a short presentation each week to discuss a subject of their choice.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • Students could read French news on rfi.fr & france24.fr websites.

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • The students could continue with their French studies by attending another WEA french course.
