This French course will allow students to express their ideas & opinions about all types of subjects regarding every day life, culture, traditions & social events. Grammaticla points will be revised on a weekly basis.

Course aim

The aim of this course taught by a native teacher is to discuss all types of subjects dealing with every day life, traditions, culture, education events in France as they occur. we will also revise grammatical points on a weekly basis.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers
  • This course is for students with an elementary / intermediate knowledge of french.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Describe at least 5 daily activities
  • Ask & give information on 3 different sujects
  • Describe a holiday, a place, a region, a book, a film with increased confidence
  • Discuss news & topical events
  • Revise grammatical points

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • The students will be able to express their views & opinions on all kind of subjects. Learners will also be given homework on a weekly basis.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • There will be a number of tasks such as oral presentations, role plays, group discussions & homework on grammatical points.

What else do I need to know?

  • Students to be given homework on a weekly basis & to do a short presentation on a topic of their choice each week.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • Students could read French news by consulting BBC website.

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • The students could continue their French studies by attending another WEA French course.
