This French course taught by a native speaker will cover all kind of subjects regarding every day life, culture, traditions, social & political life while revising grammatical points as or when they arise.

Course aim

This course taught by a native french speaker will enable the students to express their ideas & opinions about french life, culture, traditions, social, environmental & political events when they occur. We will also study & revise grammatical points.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for the students with an intermediate or advanced knowledge of the french language.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Read at least 5 french articles & summarise them in English
  • Discuss at least 5 topics with other students
  • Translate at least 5 articles from English to French
  • Confidently take part in role plays
  • Ask & give information on up to 5 subjects

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • Students will be given homework & ask to do a short presentation on a subject of their choice.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • The students will be assessed through the homework given by the teacher, short oral presentation, discussions & role plays.

What else do I need to know?

  • Students will be given homework on a weekly basis.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • Students should prepare a short presentation to introduce themselves & another short presentation describing their holidays.

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Students will be able to continue with their french studies by attending another WEA french course.
