This course taught by a native speaker will allow students to express their opinions about all types of subjects regarding every day life, culture, traditions & social events. We will revise grammatical points on a weekly basis.

Course aim

The purpose of this course taught by a native speaker is to discuss all types of subjects dealing with every day life - culture, traditions, education, environment, social events in France. We will also revise grammatical points on a weekly basis.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers
  • This course is for students with a elementary/ intermediate knowledge of French.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Describe at lest 5 daily activities
  • Ask & give information on 4 different subjects (book, film, play, news...)
  • Describe a book, film, holiday, trip, play with increased confidence
  • Discuss the news
  • Read an English article & summarise it in French

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • Students will be given homework on a weekly basis

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • The students will be assessed through short oral presentation & homework they are given on a weekly basis.

What else do I need to know?

  • Students to be given homework

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • Students could prepare a short oral presentation to introduce themselves & a short presentation about their holidays.

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Students could continue with their french studies by attending a WEA french course
