This course taught by a native french speaker will cover all kinds of subjects regarding every day life in France while revising grammatical points as or when needed.

Course aim

This course will be taught by a native french speaker. The students will be able to discuss about french life, culture, traditions, social & political events when they occur & give their opinions. The students will revise grammatical points.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers
  • This french course is suitable for students with an intermediate/ advanced knowledge.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Translate at least 3 articles from English to French
  • Read an article in French, summarise it & give your opinions on the article
  • Ask & give your opinions on at least 5 different subjects
  • Discuss at least 3 topics with other students
  • Take part in role plays

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • The students to be given homework on a weekly basis

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • Students will be assessed on a weekly basis through short oral presentation & correction of homework

What else do I need to know?

  • Students to be given homework on a weekly basis

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • Students to prepare a short presentation to introduce themselves & a short presentation on their summer holidays.

  • Students can continue their french studies by attending another WEA french course.
