French Improvers

This french course will allow the students to express their opinions & ideas about all types of subjects regarding every day life in France including culture, education, traditions & social events. Grammatical points will be revise on a weekly basis (perfect & imperfect tenses, future, conditional, pronouns....)

Course aim

The purpose of this course taught by a native french speaker is to discuss all types of subjects - culture, education, environment, traditions & social events when they occur. we will also revise & introduce new grammatical points.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers
  • Students with an elementary on intermediate levels in French

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Ask & give information on 3 different subjects
  • Describe at least 5 daily activities
  • Read French articles & give your opinions
  • Describe a holiday, a book, a film, a play with increased confidence
  • Talk about news & topical events giving your opinions

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
  • Students to be given homework on grammatical points or articles to read &discuss in class

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • Students to prepare a short oral presentation on a subject of their choice (play, book, film, holidays, social, political or cultural events)

What else do I need to know?

  • Students to be given homework on a weekly basis

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • Students could prepare a short presentation to introduce themselves & then a short presentation on their holidays

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Students could continue with their french studies attending another WEA French course
