Small enterprises can face a range of employment law issues. This interactive taster, based on some fascinating case studies, offers an initial overview including the Equality Act, disciplinary processes, equal pay, health and safety, maternity, pregnancy, redundancy and recruitment.

Course aim

The course will give an initial insight into aspects of employment law and the issues which may face a small enterprise.

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Recognise the complexity of employment law and the broad range of the topic area
  • Discuss the distinction between statutory and case law issues in employment law
  • Work with other students on interactive case studies to find solutions for a range of situations relating to employment law

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
