A rare opportunity to learn about the book collection in the library at the National Trust's Lanhydrock House; see some of the rare books on the shelves and hear the stories behind them. Paul Holden FSA - House and Collections Manager, will explain Lanhydrock's place in Cornish history and reveal some of the rare books in this collection. There is no disabled access to the gallery/library at Lanhydrock.

Course aim

to explore Lanhydrock's place in Cornish history and reveal up to 10 rare books.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Discuss how Lanhydrock and its library fit into Cornish history
  • Name some of the rare books and explain their historical significance
  • Summarize the content of some of the books shown during the course

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Become involved with the WEA in a range of voluntary work and other activities including campaigning as a WEA member
