Day School - The Impressionists in London

Ref: C3529144

This one-day course will explore the work of the Impressionists, including Monet, Pissarro, Sisley, together with other French artists, such as James Tissot, Alphonse Legros and their compatriots, who fled France in 1870 to avoid the Franco-Prussian War. It will explore their experiences in London and how these, together with the friendships that developed during this period, influenced not only their own work but also contributed to the British art scene. It will also explore the impact this first visit had on the work of some of them when they returned to London in the period,1890-1901, together with the visit by Andre Derain in 1906.
