Hula Hooping and Circus Skills

This is a fun and energetic course, in which you get to learn the basics of hula hooping. You'll learn tricks and moves, as well as ways to dance with your hoop and put it all in a routine, incorporating all your new skills. You might learn how to lift the hoop from your waist and put it back again, how to spin it around and in front of the body in lots of interesting ways, and pick up some dazzling, fancy tricks inbetween. Perfect to impress friends, family, colleagues! You'll feel welcome and included in this supportive group. Get fit and have fun doing it!

Course aim

This hula hooping course is for those starting out for the first time as well as those having previously taken a beginners course. Learn introductory tricks and steps and put it all together into a routine.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Spin a hula hoop on the waist and the hand
  • Be able to lift it from the body and spin it around and in front of the body in interesting ways
  • Demonstrate a number of tricks with a hula hoop
  • Dance with your hula hoop
  • Know a routine using all the aspects learnt on the course

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • All materials will be provided
  • Please wear comfortable clothing.

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

  • Progress to another WEA course
