Do you find it hard to say "no"? Do you wish you were more assertive? Have you always pleased everyone else but yourself? This taster session will give you an opportunity to find out a little more about what assertiveness is and what you can achieve through the use of assertive communication. There is a follow on 2 day course scheduled for October 2017.

Course aim

This taster session will give learners an opportunity to find out a little more about what assertiveness is and what can be achieved through the use of assertive communication. There is a follow on 2 day course scheduled for October 2017.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Discuss understanding of assertiveness with peers.
  • Complete an assertiveness questionnaire.
  • Practice saying no assertively.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • All materials will be provided

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
