Course aim

In this complementary therapy course we will cover Indian head massage and acupressure points to alleviate stress and anxiety. The course aim is to empower individuals to help themselves and share basic knowledge with friends and family.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Demonstrate a full Indian head massage on a partner
  • Demonstrate correct massage technique used in Indian head and acupressure by using safe working practice on each other and self
  • State one aftercare advice when undergoing treatment
  • Discuss personal experience of how learning may impact on personal health during the course
  • Demonstrate and describe three massage techniques used during Indian head massage

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • You will be continually assessed throughout the course and are open at any time to ask questions during these fun and informal sessions

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you
  • Please wear comfortable clothes and an open mind. While it is not mandatory to work on another person the tutor will wncourage you to work on each other.
