Creative Writing without Borders: Presenting your words in new ways

Ref: C3528670

This is a Creative Writing course with a difference! In a friendly, informal atmosphere, you'll be using your memories, opinions, observations, hopes, dreams and ambitions to create pieces of writing - and then presenting them in imaginative ways. With full support from your tutor, you'll be developing your writing skills, and using them to produce innovative, contemporary pieces.

Course aim

This course will encourage you to identify the best parts of your writing, and to present them in new, exciting ways.

  • With help, write your chosen phrases on a variety of relevant surfaces.
  • Show an open-minded attitude to contemporary writing and art.
  • Encourage and support other class members.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You will be asked to try various writing techniques, and to think about some contemporary (but not difficult) approaches to presenting your work.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • There will be a number of tasks appropriate to your course such as written work, creating art or craft, video, photography or small projects. Some of these may be marked to help you progress

What else do I need to know?

  • You will need to bring your own paper and pens, as they won't be supplied; other materials for presentation will be supplied.
