Come and learn the wet felting technique and the myriad of things you can make with it in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Course aim

To introduce students to the wet felting technique and to provide opportunities for making lovely items to keep for themselves or to give as a gift

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • produce a piece of felt using the wet felting technique
  • know a few interesting facts about felt
  • learn about a few felt making artists
  • know where to buy merino wool at best prices

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • Old towels Thermos flask Bamboo mat x2 Large piece of bubble wrap Embellishments (Buttons, Beads, etc. although some will be provided)

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Learners could start their own felt making craft business and sell products in local shops and/or online if they feel confident enough to do so
