Using the wide-ranging possibilities of the rich variety of plants and flowers that are available during the Summer, this course will record the Natural World in observed detail and produce watercolour studies of great beauty and intensity. No Sessions 07 & 28/05/2018

Course aim

A watercolour painting course for those wishing to record the astounding riches of the Natural World.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners
  • This course is for improvers
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • An interest in plants, gardening and/or the Natural World.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • An increased knowledge of the structure of flowers.
  • An appreciation of Looking.
  • Confidence in composing a beautiful painting.
  • A awareness of the versatility of colour.
  • Enjoy the company of like-minded people.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • Plenty of on-going help and advice.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • The tutor will contact you before the start of the course about painting materials.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
