By observing , drawing and painting natural objects and plants, we can develop a deep knowledge and appreciation of the world around us. Things that we may take for granted are transformed into objects of great beauty, and the glowing colours of watercolour paint can enhance this. No Session 12/02/2018

Course aim

A watercolour painting course that involves close observation of plants and the natural world. This term will concentrate on fruit and vegetables and themes from Natural History.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners
  • This course is for improvers
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • An interest in plants, gardening and/or the Natural World.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Learn to look critically.
  • Increase your knowledge of colours and how to use them.
  • Paint a beautiful watercolour study.
  • Be amazed by the properties of natural objects.
  • Enjoy the company of like-minded people.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • Plenty of on-going help and guidance.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • The tutor will contact you before the start of the course about painting materials.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
