A painting course for those who are fascinated by the Natural World, and want to learn more by studying plants and natural forms in detail. The class gives an opportunity to consider a living object with a quiet and considered concentration, led by an enthusiastic and knowledgeable tutor. The end results are paintings that glow with intensity and richness. No session 23/10/2017

Course aim

A painting course using watercolours and observed drawings of plants and natural objects.

  • No skills or experience needed

  • A interest in plants, gardening and/or the Natural World.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Learn how to draw accurately.
  • Increase your knowledge of colour.
  • Have confidence in painting a well -composed botanical study.
  • Learn more about the structure of plants and natural objects.
  • Enjoy the company of like-minded people.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • Plenty of on-the spot help and advice.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • The tutor will contact you before the start of the course about painting materials.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
