Watercolour Techniques: Autumn

A friendly, creative watercolour course where we will tackle a variety of techniques and different subjects. Watercolour is a fabulous flowing medium of jewel-like colours and transparent glazes. As well as exploring colour mixing and the importance of tonal values we will experiment with a variety of techniques for achieving texture, pattern and atmosphere. No Session 24/10/2017

Course aim

To increase students ability and enjoyment of watercolour painting through exploring a wide range of subject matter and techniques.

Who is the course for?

- This is a mixed ability group, where some students are relatively new to watercolour and others quite experienced.

What topics will this course cover

- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning - You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning - The tutor will do short demonstration to show specific techniques.

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

How will I know I'm making progress?

- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion - You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor - You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning - There will be plenty of informal verbal feedback about the individual paintings being worked on each week. Including any work that students choose to do between classes and would like feedback/advice on in class.

What else do I need to know, do or bring?

- Basic watercolour kit. A stiff board and masking tape and a water pot. Tutor can provide a materials list if required. Tutor can supply materials at SAA (Society of All Artists) members prices if required.

Reading and information sources

- No pre reading or pre course work is required

What could the course lead to?

- Progress to another WEA course - Progress to a course with another provider - Students could join a local art society and exhibit work.
