Digital Photography: In the Outdoor Classroom

This course is designed to complement our digital photography courses. It includes a full day educational visit to capture the beauty of the local area with your camera, with classroom sessions learning how to edit, save and print your photos. Classroom based 3rd and 10th July, full day educational visit 7th July.

Course aim

To enable beginners/improvers in digital photography to take, save, edit, share and print their photographs. Includes internet security issues. Aimed at compact and bridge camera users.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Use more of your camera settings and menus (ie. not just point and press).
  • Transfer photo files from camera to computer. Save and back-up photos.
  • Manage camera memory cards and USB memory devices. Delete unwanted photographs.
  • Edit photo files with digital photography software. Create photo collages.
  • Print and share photographs.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • You do not need a digital camera to do this course, but you are encouraged to bring your own camera if you are able to do so.

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Progress to a course with another provider
  • Become involved with the WEA in a range of voluntary work and other activities including campaigning as a WEA member
