Techniques and tips to use in your everyday life - relax, deal with stress and support a calmer mind. Focus on conscious breathing and postures that help improve lung capacity, flexibility and nervous / immune system function. Learn simple nutritional options to support the doshas and develop a daily selfcare practice.

Course aim

Relieve stress and develop a meditation practice: through a basic understanding of anatomical responses and the experience of conscious breath/movement, relaxation and nutritional options.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify and utilise 1-3 pranayam(s) specific to my daily practice requirements
  • Participate in a range of Kriya and Meditation relevant to the general anatomy/nutrition topics
  • Develop an awareness of the doshas and how this can translate into my everyday life

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
  • You will be expected to carry out a range of activities in your own time

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)
  • Wear suitable loose fitting clothing. Layers are useful so you can be warm/cool enough. A Yoga Mat A blanket or similar for relaxation. A flask / bottle of water.

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Progress to a course with another provider
  • Become involved with the WEA in a range of voluntary work and other activities including campaigning as a WEA member
