Learning to Write on the Computer

This is a friendly and supportive group. We aim to develop independence and confidence on the computer. Students will log on, format a page and practise writing their own sentences. The tutor will set a task each week and circulate to assist throughout the session.

Course aim

To encourage students to become more confident on a computer - writing simple sentences on Microsoft Word.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners
  • This course is for students who can write/spell simple words.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • log on to a computer and open a Word document independently.
  • copy a simple sentence on to a Word document.
  • use a word spelt by the tutor in my own sentence - typed Word document.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

  • Nothing else is needed

You can if you meet all of the following requirements:

  • are paying the standard fee or are on any of the qualifying benefits
