Life Action Planning

Each student will learn skills to help them plan daily activities and future life goals to maximise the possibility of successful outcomes. Course content: what topics will the course cover? Exploring the three stages of Life Action Planning – Stop and Think/Get Ready and Plan/Go and Do It. Identifying key questions to ask at each of the planning stages. Creating a Circle of Support to help with the planning of a life goal. Identifying a future Life Goal and using a Life Action Planning Arrow to plan how to achieve it.

Course aim

The aim of this course is to promote the benefit of planning when organising daily activities and to support students to identify gaps in their knowledge that need further thought and/or support before engaging in activities or planning life goals.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify the three stages of the action planning process.
  • Identify key questions that need to be asked when planning an activity.
  • Identify key people who can act as support when planning an activity.
  • Use a Life Action Planning Arrow to Plan How to Achieve a Life Goal.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • All materials will be provided
