The course is based around positive thinking and positive outlooks. Learners will learn about strategies to enable them to move forward in personal life and work life. It will enable them to improve their self esteem, self confidence and self belief to have a more proactive and resilient approach to life on the whole

Course aim

The course is aimed to improve the health and wellbeing of learners. Learners will learn about tools to become more proactive in their approach to problem solving and goal setting to move forward.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify 1 way to develop positive thinking for their personal situations.
  • Identify 1 strategy for problem solving and time management
  • Identify 1 way of managing stress and worries positively
  • Identify 1 way to set and achieve small goals
  • Identify 1 way to improve self belief to move forward

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • A folder and notepad

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
