The course is for African Caribbean elderly with health conditions such as Dementia, Diabetes, Heart Disease and Stroke. Course restricted to members of Dudley African Caribbean Carers and Disability Group.

Course aim

To complete chair based moderate exercise and to encourage participants to complete at home what they have learnt in the sessions. Learning will focus on Lung Disease.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Define the term ‘COPD’
  • Identify symptoms of COPD
  • Do moderate chair based exercise
  • Build fitness and exercise levels

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • Course information will be provided by tutor in regards to learning outcomes.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • The students will be informed of progress and assessment via verbal encouragement and via, lesson feedback and self evaluation

What else do I need to know?

  • Course information will be provided by tutor in regards to learning outcomes.
