Developing Ideas with ICT

Students will be able to work at their own pace to develop essential computer skills, using Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and the Internet. Course outcomes will include formatting documents, a PowerPoint presentation, formatting spreadsheets, and organising emails.

Course aim

To develop ICT skills using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint & Excel, sending / organising emails and finding information using the internet.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Use Word processing skills to format documents.
  • Use PowerPoint to prepare a short presentation
  • Use Excel to create, format and add formulae to a spreadsheet.
  • Use the internet to find specific information.
  • Maintain a personal Email address

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • Be able to use a computer keyboard and mouse. A memory stick may be used to store and practise your work on another computer
