Pilates

This course supports learners to develop their use of Pilates. Learners will be encouraged to recognise the benefits to their physical and mental well-being of a regular practice of pilates. Learners will improve their balance, breathing and posture through a variety of movements and exercises.

Course aim

To provide learners with the opportunity to experience Pilates in an environment conducive to their relaxation. Learners will be given instructions on posture, movement, breathing and visualizations

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • This course is for women only as it is held in a women's centre

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Balance more confidently
  • Have control of breathing
  • Correct posture alignment
  • Destress the mind and body
  • Feel stronger in body

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • All materials will be provided
  • comfortable clothing bottle of water

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
