This course enables learners to learn how to cook authentic Indian dishes. Fresh ingredients are carefully selected and dishes are prepared in a friendly environment, keeping in mind all the health and safety issues. Discussions are made throughout the sessions about how to introduce healthier options and learn health benefits of various Indian spices and ingredients. Learners who have been in this course previously have discussed and shared how they feel healthier after introducing fresh food and various spices in their diet.
Course aim
Learners will be able to learn about the key Indian spices and their health benefits. Healtheir options of preparing a dish will also be discussed. Popular Indian dishes are carefully selected to enable learners to feel confident in making them.

- This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Memorise the procedure of making Tandoori Chicken
- List 3 health benefits of ginger
- Name at least 5 Indian spices
- State the temperature at which raw meat should be stored
- Summarise the procedure of making a Tadka
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
- You will be expected to carry out a range of activities in your own time
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
