The course is aimed at people who want to know how to research a report, write it up, structure the findings, prepare a presentation, structure it, identify methods for presentation, give a presentation and improve their personal presentation skills

Course aim

Introduce students to report writing and presentation preparation and delivery

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • Students need a level 2 qualification in English to join this course

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Know what a good report looks like and have a clearer pathway toward writing a good report
  • Understand how to research a report and write up the findings
  • Prepare a presentation based on the findings
  • Improve my presentation skills
  • Personal satisfaction

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • The tutor will suggest a number of options to students for them to gain experience

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • It would be helpful if students arrived with a presentation idea or a presentation they are prepared to adapt

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
