Dance your way to fitness! Join this fun course and learn a variety of dance routines to music including rock and roll, rumba, waltz, disco, salsa, tango. etc. Understand the importance of hand and arm techniques, body styling and foot movements. Low impact, high energy aerobic exercise in a fun packed but relaxed atmosphere. You will be guided through key steps before dancing each routine, so you'll start learning and developing your technique right away.

Course aim

Sosa Dance Fitness. Learn and develop a variety of Dance routines including rumba, salsa, waltz etc. Low impact, aerobic exercise. Fun packed relaxed atmosphere.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Demonstrate a basic dance routine
  • Understand 5 key terms liked to a dance routine
  • Create the movement of dance style, such as rumba and waltz etc.
  • Develop and understand the importance of co-ordination, hand and arm movement and foot movement.
  • Discover the many dance styles ballroom has to offer, and international dance steps.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You will be taught together as a group and will be given verbal and visual instructions on how to perform a particular movement or steps. Your tutor will encourage and support you throughout the demonstration of the dance routine.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You are free to ask questions about anything to do with the dance routine to help to understand the method of the dance steps and movements of the dance style.

What else do I need to know?

  • You will need to bring bottled water or a water bottle. You will need to wear flat comfortable non-slip shoes or trainers. You will need to wear loose comfortable clothes.
