Knit and Stitch - Creative Crafts

Do you want to learn to knit, crochet or sew? Would you like to make your own clothes, toys or furnishings? What about a wall hanging or soft sculpture? If so, then this course is for you. A friendly and sociable course in a community venue where you can try out new craft techniques to create an individual project or work with the group to complete a project that will be donated to a local school or organisation.

Course aim

This course offers students the opportunity to try a number of different craft techniques including knitting, hand, machine sewing, quilting, clippy and crochet before embarking on an individual project or contributing to a group project.

- No skills or experience needed - This course is for beginners - This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

What topics will this course cover

- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

How will I know I'm making progress?

- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor - You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning - You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know, do or bring?

- You can provide your own material for individual projects or purchase material from the tutor at a very reasonable cost. You could bring your own sewing machine if you want, otherwise machines are available.
