Watercolour painting is the most beautiful but also most skillful medium and the one that everyone has trouble get to grips with. It a great therapy and a working skill. Understanding the the make up and the flow of the paint, how to mix colour and the application from a variety of brushes will lead to better painting outcomes for the novice painter and a better approach for new painters to begin with. Your Tutor will be hands on and will demonstrate all the techniques for you to see. You can follow step by step tuition or choose to paint on your own with the guidance of a knowledgeable tutor to help you out. It's watercolours for all and it's you who will set your pace and goals regardless of your entry skill level.

Course aim

The course is designed for anyone who would like to try their hand at Watercolour painting, or those who would like to improve their existing skills..

Who is the course for?

- No skills or experience needed - This course is suitable for beginners and improvers - This course is for people with little spoken English

What topics will this course cover

- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning - You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

How will I know I'm making progress?

- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion - You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor - You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning - You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions - A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress - Verbal feedback is on-going. Your Tutor will be watching over your shoulder to keep you from developing bad painting habits which will effect your painting outcomes. The Tutor is there to discuss your progress and outcomes as you need too.

What else do I need to know, do or bring?

- It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.) - Some materials may will be provided free of charge for those who are eligible for free learning.

Reading and information sources

- No pre reading or pre course work is required - No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful

- Progress to another WEA course - Progress to a course with another provider - You could progress to Higher Education courses.
