The course is for beginners and those have an interest in Spanish culture. There will be plenty of opportunities to practice different scenarios e.g. ordering food or listening and responding to directions. The course is ideal for those planning a holiday to Spain or South America and also those who want to learn one of the most widely spoken languages in the world i.e. Spanish Will also look at currrent issues like the mediterrenean diet and health benefits

Course aim

The course will provide basic skills to communicate in Spanish. It will enable you to have a more enjoyable experience whilst visiting Spain or develop your interest and build your confidence.

What topics will this course cover

- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning - You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning - You will be expected to carry out a range of activities in your own time

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

How will I know I'm making progress?

- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion - You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor - You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning - You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions - There will be a number of tasks appropriate to your course such as written work, creating art or craft, video, photography or small projects. Some of these may be marked to help you progress

- No pre reading or pre course work is required - Try to look at some travel brochures
