Ref: C2523073

This course is aimed at those who feel they either want to learn how to draw or paint from scratch, or who have been to other art classes, but feel they've missed some of the important skills or knowledge. You will work on personalised goals and projects to help you achieve this.

Course aim

To develop key skills in drawing and painting, and to develop a personalised approach to drawing and painting.

Who is the course for?

- No skills or experience needed - This course is suitable for beginners and improvers - The course members range from those who have been coming for a long time, to new members each term. The tutor uses differentiation techniques to allow for each student to recieve individual tasks or development specific to their needs.

What topics will this course cover

- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning - You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning - I use mainly: demonstration, discussion and a lot of 121 help, to help you achive yor perosnalised goals (which are negotiated with the tutor at the start). The aim is to help you get more independent with your drawing and painting skills

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

1. To develop drawing skill using shapes, angles and measuring. 2. To demonstrate paint application techniques 3. To discuss personalised goals, and plan how to achieve these 4. Plan and prepare a personalised artwork 5.Review work and agree a development plan

How will I know I'm making progress?

- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion - You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor - You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning - You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions - The course is split into two approaches - learning a specific set of basic skills (during the intial weeks), and progressing towards your own personalised goals (in ther latter part of the course).

What else do I need to know, do or bring?

- It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.) - Initially, you should bring a pencil, eraser and A4 paper. any further materials can be discussed with the tutor. A good attitude, and a willingness to learn are always good!
