Life can be very stressful and demanding. The effects of which can sometimes impact on our ability to practice patience and consideration with our children. Mindful parenting gives us the opportunity to learn the art of being fully present with our children; with kindness and compassion and strengthen our relationship bonds with them. Through a combination of supportive group work, mindfulness meditations and practices we will cover : -The ways in which stress can negatively impact on our parenting -Mindfulness practices for stress reduction -How Mindfulness can help bring more awareness to how we react to our children

Course aim

The Mindful Parenting Course aims to equip parents and carers with mindfulness tools and techniques to positively impact on the parent/ child relationship.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Understand what Mindfulness is
  • Practice several mindful meditations and techniques
  • Have an awareness of what stress is and how it impacts on my life
  • Use mindfulness skills in my daily life with the my family

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

  • Nothing else is needed
